How to Buy Golf Equipment on eBay

eBay is full of great deals on pretty much any product on the face of this earth, including golf equipment.
Learning how to dig through eBay and find the best deals can be your ticket to discount golf clubs.
Nobody likes to go to the giant golf retail stores and pay the premium prices they charge, and why should you? If you can get it online for a fraction of the price, then do it! Before attempting what I am going to teach you to do, you should be familiar with exactly the kind of golf clubs that are right for you.
Otherwise, you might be wasting your money.
So, before you buy any golf club, make sure you are properly fitted.
I like to begin shopping for clubs by doing some research on the particular product I am pursuing.
First, I like to know what the retail giants like Golfsmith are selling the club for.
So head on over to Golfsmith's website and search for it.
For this article I am going to pretend I am searching for a Cobra S2 driver.
I found that on Golfsmith they are selling for $299.
Now what I want to do is see what it is going for on eBay.
You will need an eBay account for this so be sure to get one if you don't already.
After I sign in, I will perform a search for Cobra S2 driver.
When the results page comes up, scroll down the page until you see "completed listings" on the left side of the page and click on it.
This reveals what previously ended auctions for this club are ending at.
The first thing I see in the completed listing is one that sold for $230.
50.
That is pretty good considering the retail was $299.
As I scroll down I see the different prices and try to get and idea of what a good deal is.
Now that I have this information, it's time to look for a club to bid on.
From that page, I can just click on completed listings again and it takes me back to the current auctions.
eBay gives you the option to sort the listing if you want.
On the top right side of the page just above the listing you will see "sort by" and a drop down menu.
I like to sort the auctions that are ending soonest.
The first thing you want to look for in the listings is the price.
Keep in mind the max price you will pay and pick something a lot lower.
This will give you some room to bid.
When you find a price you like, read the item description to make sure you are getting exactly what it is you want.
Next you want to check the shipping price.
A lot of sellers will lower the sale price to make you think they are selling for cheaper than everyone else, but have an outrageous shipping price.
You might not find any good deals at first but don't worry.
They are on there, you just have to keep looking.
When you find an auction that looks like it could be a good buy, you should watch it.
No, I don't mean sit and stare at it.
I mean you should use the option provided by eBay to put that particular auction in your member page.
When you bring up the item page of the club you are looking at, you will see a link that says "watch this item" on the top right hand side of the page.
Click on this and eBay will add this auction to a list of watched items in your member page.
This way when you log back on to eBay to see the status of your item, it is easy to find.
When your item as about 10 minutes left to go, you are ready to start bidding.
I don't like to bid on items too soon because I feel that it just jacks up the price, and we certainly don't want that.
Go ahead and make a bid on the item for the maximum price you decided on earlier.
You bid the max because eBay will automatically bid for you in small increments at a time until your limit is reached.
Remember not to set your max price too high, the goal here is to find a good deal.
If you get outbid you can just keep trying until you get one at the price you want.
When you make your first bid, you may find that you get out bid immediately.
This is because someone else has placed a high bid and eBay is bidding for them.
If this is the case just go on to the next auction.
Don't get discouraged if you don't get what you want right away! Good things will come to those who are patient.
With a little bit of practice you will be on your way to great deals on golf equipment.
