How to Heal a Hemorrhoid

    • 1). Soak in a warm bath of plain water for 10 to 15 minutes, two or three times a day. Gently wash your anus with warm, plain water and dry it with the hair dryer.

    • 2). Take a pain reliever and apply the topical treatment or suppository as instructed on the label to relieve any pain and irritation.

    • 3). Gently wipe your buttocks with moist towelettes rather than toilet paper after a bowel movement. Apply the cold compresses to your anus as needed to reduce swelling.

    • 4). Avoid sitting for long periods of time. Take a break every hour and stand up. Place a soft cushion in your seat to make sitting more comfortable. Sit on the toilet for no more than five minutes when using the bathroom.
