- While you can still buy a DigiTech GNX4 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal, they are no longer in production. That means you will most likely need to buy a pre-owned unit. Of course, since they were manufactured fairly recently (2008) it could be possible to find a unit that's never been opened, even though they don't make them anymore. They are recent enough to still be supported by the company to a large degree.
- The DigiTech GNX4 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal does function as a pedal by definition. It alters the sound of the guitar signal and responds to pressure on the pedal. However, it is far more than just a pedal. The unit has a built-in eight-track digital recorder. It also includes a MIDI drum machine, so it can provide the rhythm as you play. In addition, it can even play MP3s.
- Among the effects the DigiTech GNX4 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal can produce are 10 different types of distortion. These are based on other, widely used, distortion pedals. The DigiTech unit can produce types of distortion designed to mimic each of these pedals: Arbiter Fuzz Face, Boss DS-1 Distortion, Boss MT-2 Metal Zone, DigiTech Grunge, DOD 250 Overdrive/Preamp, EH Big Muff, Guyatone Overdrive OD-2, Ibanez TS-9 Tube Screamer, ProCo Rat and Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive.
- The Digitech GNX4 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal comes with the capability for 240 for presets. The first 80 presets are set in the factory and on board the unit when it is purchased, and 80 more can be programmed by the user and entered. The final 80 are also user programmed. The difference, though, is that those are only available if you insert a CF memory card into the unit.
- The Digitech GNX4 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal can produce 99 total stomp-boxes, amps, cabinets and effects. In other words, it can duplicate the sound of 99 various units. It allows you to run 11 different effects, amps or cabinets at the same time. You can also create your own original and unique configuration not tied to a type of item on the market. You can even run a microphone in to capture vocal tracks.
