Turmeric Uses And It's Benefits is something I thought I would look into as I am in the process of changing my diet.
I was surprised by what I learned.
Turmeric may be considered by some as a miracle drug.
It can be used for a large number of culinary and medicinal purposes.
Turmeric was a staple of traditional Indian and Chinese physicians for a wide variety of diseases.
Today, we are constantly finding newer and better uses for this perennial shrub.
As research continues in this area, we may find that this is a cure for many common diseases.
We find this shrub in many tropical areas and its cost would not be as prohibitive as manufactured medications.
Yet, the use of turmeric is just as common in food preparation.
For culinary purposes, turmeric is commonly used as a flavoring agent.
It is considered an essential spice in Indian cuisine as well as a favorite of many other cultures and countries.
We often find turmeric in in a variety of mustard's.
This spice is what gives the mustard "bite".
If added in small quantities to a food dish, it imparts the food with an orange yellow hue.
Many pickles and mustard's have turmeric added to reduce fading while it is also used to reduce fishy odors in dishes.
Turmericalso has many medicinal benefits.
The diseases that can be prevented or improved by the use of this spice vary greatly.
They range from digestive disorders to Alzheimer's disease.
Turmeric helps your body digest fats by stimulating bile production.
It has been used for many years when the complaint is a digestive disturbance.
Researchers believe that turmeric may prevent and/or slow the progress of Alzheimer's disease.
It does this, they believe, by assisting the brain in the removal of plaque buildup.
Yet, this is only two of the medicinal uses that have been discovered.
Turmeric has been shown to assist in fighting and preventing many forms of cancer.
It is also used as an anti-inflammatory, yet does not have the side effects of many of these medications.
Other uses include treatment of skin disorders, slowing the progression of multiple sclerosis, and managing weight.
With this many uses for turmeric, Americans need to make this a staple in their diet.
With the proper diet, we may be able to prevent many common diseases and disorders.
This would be very beneficial, especially as our country debates health care reform.
Common sense solutions, such as the use of spices as treatment, need to be looked at more carefully and included in and such reform.
Money would be saved while the quality of life is improved.
