5 More Ways to Go Green & Save Money

Going Green has become a way of life and not only helps save the plant, it can also help save you money too! In my last article I showed you 5 ways that you can make some small changes around the home to save both the environment and your cash, and this article will continue where that one left off with 5 more ways to go green and save money.
1.
Practice smart shopping
I love shopping as much as the next person, but do we really need all that stuff? Most of it gets broken or worn once and ends up in landfill but there is a way where you can still get what you need and be green.
You just need to shop smarter and that includes not being swayed by impulse purchases or making a list and only buying what is on it.
Buy furniture from secondhand or antique stores - not only will you be getting a quality piece that will last a long time you'll be helping save trees and resources.
Recycle your clothes and try and get the most wear out of them that you can.
2.
Embrace borrowing
Borrowing is the new cool for us green types.
You can borrow books from libraries, movies from DVD rental stores, even power tools and appliances from hire companies.
You'll not only save yourself a fortune, you'll be helping our earth.
3.
Reduce packaging
Packaging contributes greatly to landfill and most of it is unnecessary.
Try where you can to reduce the amount of packaging you buy.
Often that means buying in bulk or bringing your own recyclable bags to carry your goods in.
4.
Recycle electronics properly
Electronics or e-waste is becoming a huge environmental problem as it contains mercury and other toxic chemicals that can get into our soil harming our health.
If you need to get rid of any electronic waste contact your local government for the nearest electronics recycling centre.
5.
Become a greenie cleanie
Most of the products in the cleaning aisle of your supermarket contain toxic chemicals that can harm your health, the environment and your budget.
Making your own green cleaning products from baking soda, vinegar, lemon & soap are just as effective as the store bought products but will cost far less and be kinder to your world.
