How to Calculate Series Resistance

    • 1). Turn the dial of the multimeter to the ohms symbol so that it can be used as an ohm meter. Touch the two multimeter probes to either end of the first resistor in the series circuit. Log the resistance value displayed on the multimeter screen.

    • 2). Repeat the process in step 1 and measure the resistance across each of the resistors in the series circuit. Log all of the resistance values.

    • 3). Add the measured resistance values of all of the resistors in the series circuit to get the combined series resistance of the entire circuit.
