The U.S. Navy provides full tuition to qualified high school students to attend a nursing school. Participants begin service in the Reserve Officer Training Corps at an approved college or university. Recipients of the full scholarship receive a stipend and book allowance. Upon completion of the nursing program, participants receive a Bachelor's in Nursing and a Naval Officer Commission in the U.S. Navy. - The applicant must be a U.S. citizen, 17 to 23 years old and must possess a high school diploma or its equivalency. The applicant must pass the American College Test (ACT) with a score of 22 for English and 21 for math.
The National Navy ROTC scholarship is a four-year, full-tuition scholarship to include books, a stipend and uniform allowance. The applicant must select an accredited college that has a NROTC and nursing program. In addition, the applicant will have to enroll in naval science classes and attend two summer sessions for the Nurse Corps. - The two-year scholarship is for applicants who are in their sophomore year in a college that has NROTC and a nursing program. The two-year scholarship pays for the remaining two years of the students' tuition, books and the student receives a uniform allowance and monthly stipend.
The applicant must already be enrolled as a nursing student. Two-year scholarship recipients must take Naval Science courses and attend two summer sessions for the Nurse Corps. - The NROTC programs offers four-year scholarships to minority students that attend historically black colleges that have a NROTC program. This program also allows students to choose the Nurse Corps option.
The applicant must be a high school senior, a minority and have a grade point average of 2.75. In addition, the required ACT score for math is 21 and 22 for English or the Scholastic Aptitude Test score for math is 520 and reading is 530.
Recipients of this scholarship must take Naval Science courses, attend summer training in accordance with the Nurse Corps curriculum and weekly drill instruction.
