How to Make Fish Invites

    • 1). Fold a sheet of blue, yellow or green construction paper vertically in half and crease the sheet with a pencil. Open the sheet, then cut the sheet down the center with scissors, using the vertical crease line as a guide. Fold both half sheets horizontally in half to create a card.

    • 2). Turn the folded cards vertically, with the open ends of each card up. Using your pencil, draw a fish tail as a triangle on each card, using the creased end as the base. Stop ½ inch before drawing the top of the triangle to create a connection between the fish tail and body.

    • 3). Position each card horizontally and draw a circle measuring 4 1/8 inches in diameter, to represent the body of the fish. Begin at the two top points of the triangle fin. Draw the circle to permit the top and bottom of each body to touch the top and bottom of the card, and leave a ½ inch gap between the front of the circle and the open end of the card.

    • 4). Draw the top half of a heart in the front center of the of each fish's face, to represent the mouth. The two curved tops of the heart should touch the open end of the card.

    • 5). Select two different colored sheets of construction paper. Draw circles measuring 1 inch in diameter on one sheet, and two 1 ½-by-2 inch bell shapes, on the other sheet. The circles will be used as fish eyes and the bell shapes as side fins.

    • 6). Snip the eyes and fins out from the construction paper sheets with scissors. Turn the eyes and fins over, and apply glue on the back surface. Glue one eye on each fish 1 ½ inches away from the fish's mouth, then glue one fin in the center of each fish's body. Allow the fish to dry for ten minutes.

    • 7). Cut the fish shape out with scissors, using the pencil drawing as a guide. Erase visible pencil markings from each fish with an eraser, then open the fish. Write a heading on the top right side of the card with a marker, such as "You're Invited." Write the event information below the heading.
