How to Use a Wagner Paint Sprayer to Paint My Walls

    • 1). Assemble the product. The sprayer comes in two parts out of the box: the sprayer and the turbine system, which is the motor. Attach the sprayer so it lines up with the unlocked symbol printed on the head of the turbine and turn to lock the sprayer in place.

    • 2). Position the paint tube so it faces towards the direction the spray can will be pointed. For instance, if you are angling the head of the spray gun down, position the tube so it points forward and down. This allows the tube to be fully submerged in paint at all times, even when the can runs low on paint.

    • 3). Mix up your paint by stirring it with a paint stick. Insert the measuring cup provided with your Wagner spray painter into the paint and hold it over the top of the paint can. Count the seconds it takes for the cup to empty and refer to the viscosity chart provided with your sprayer. If the "run out" time (time it takes the paint to empty out of the cup) is longer than the chart suggests for your particular type of paint, add solvent and re-test the paint until the "run out" time is less than or equal to the indicated amount on the chart.

    • 4). Turn the spray gun cup, the container attached to the bottom of the spray head, counterclockwise and remove it. Fill it with your paint after it is properly mixed and reattach the cup to the gun by inserting it in the bottom of the sprayer and turning it clockwise.

    • 5). Set the nozzle spray control dial to the proper spray pattern for your job. Choose the wide vertical pattern if you are going to use vertical strokes, and the wide horizontal pattern if you use horizontal strokes.

    • 6). Turn on the sprayer after plugging it into a wall outlet. Hold the sprayer to face the walls, and depress the trigger to apply the paint. Move the gun in a slow but even stroke as you depress the trigger, and let go of the trigger before you stop moving the gun to the side. Overlap your strokes to apply the paint and cover the entire wall.
