This DVD came out the same day as Ring of Honor Best in the World. Just as the other three Ring of Honor DVDs released by Koch has a theme, so does this one. This DVD takes a look back at the greatest rivalries in the history of the company.
Review & Recommendation
One of the things that make a rivalry great is the emotional attachment that a fan has towards one or both of the wrestlers and the history of events that has transpired between them.
Unfortunately, I'm relatively new to the Ring of Honor product and these blow-off matches to these feuds are the first match I'm seeing in these rivalries. For me, I felt like I was watching the last 20 minutes of a movie after having missed the first hour-and-a-half of it.
I think that if I was more aware of the intricacies of the rivalries and what led to these matches I would have enjoyed this DVD more. Since these DVDs are meant as a way to attract new fans, I think that the makers of this DVD should have had some type of video package shown before each match so viewers can understand the reasons behind these battles.
Overall Recommendation: If you are an avid follower of this product, you will probably have a different opinion about this DVD. However, I'm assuming that like myself, the vast majority of the readers on this site have had limited exposure to Ring of Honor. Of the previous three ROH DVDs I've reviewed this is the only one that I found myself using the fast-forward button at an excessive level.
I really believe that some video packages would have made this DVD much more entertaining. As it stands now, this has been my least favorite of the four Ring of Honor DVDs that I've reviewed.
