Uses for Marshmallow Root

    Indications

    • Marshmallow root is a demulcent, soothing dry or irritated mucus membranes by coating and lubricating the surface. It has a general tonic effect on the immune system, stimulating it to consume and destroy bacteria and other foreign agents.

    Internal Uses

    • Gastritis, peptic ulcer, colitis, enteritis, indigestion, and mouth inflammations are well treated by marshmallow root. It is also ideal for dry coughs due to irritation. The root's demulcent properties help urethritis by making it more difficult for bacteria to adhere to the urethral surface.
