Things You'll Need
Instructions
Apple Cider Vinegar
1Fill a small dish with 1 part apple cider vinegar and 1 part water. Add two drops of dish soap and mix together with a spoon.
2
Place the dish near fruit and other heavily infested fly areas. Let the mixture-filled dish sit for several hours.
3
Examine the dish regularly. Replace the dish with fresh solution when the small dish fills with dead flies.
DIY Fly Paper
1Cut a brown paper bag into 2 inch wide strips. Place them to the side.
2
Pour 1/4 cup of corn syrup into a bowl large enough to hold the strips. Add 1 tbsp. of brown sugar and 1 tbsp. of granulated sugar. Mix the contents together with a spoon.
3
Submerge the strips into the sticky mixture and let them soak for several minutes. Use a knife to help spread the mixture over the strips.
4
Lay the strips in an out of the way location where they will not be disturbed and let them dry overnight. Poke a hole at the top of each strip, pull a piece of string through the hole and hang the homemade flypaper in the desired locations.
DIY Fly Prevention
1Keep the lid on garbage cans at all times. Giving the flies' access to the trash will allow them the ideal area to breed and feed.
2
Remove animal droppings from your yard on a regular basis. This will take away a food source as well as a location for flies to lay their eggs.
3
Fill small sachets with dried cloves or bay leaves around your home to deter flies.
4
Dampen scraps of cloth with eucalyptus oil and place in locations where flies are typically a problem.
