How to Build a Book Cover

    Paper cover

    • 1). Measure the width of the cover of your book. Note the length and width of the spine.

    • 2). Cut a rectangle out of the paper bag. It needs to be 4 times the width of the cover of the book plus the width of the spine. It also needs to be as long as the spine plus four inches.

    • 3). Fold down two inches of paper on the top and bottom of the rectangle (long sides.)

    • 4). Open the book. Slide the cover sleeve you formed over it. The inside of the cover should be covered in paper. Wrap the cover around the book and slide the other end over the opposite cover.

    • 5). Use tape to secure the cover. You can wrap tape around it vertically to do so. Decorative tape will provide a creative touch while fastening the book cover in place.

    Contact Paper Cover

    • 1). Measure your book.

    • 2). Increase the measurements of the dimensions of your book by an inch on all accounts. Cut a piece of contact paper this size.

    • 3). Remove the paper that covers the adhesive side of the contact paper.

    • 4). Place the spine of the book down on the contact paper. Pull the paper taut over the covers of the book. Trim out the paper that's near the spine. Cut a diagonal off each of the corners of the contact paper. The diagonals should touch the corners of the book.

    • 5). Open the book and fold the contact paper into the book.
