Mu’azzin Benyoucef was born in Algiers on the Mediterranean Coast into a family of seven children. His father was an Algerian diplomat stationed in Saudi Arabia during most of his childhood. As an adult, after studying Business and Theater in London, Ben moved to America to pursue his acting career.
In post-911 America, life was difficult for Ben as a Muslim. The fear and uncertainty that he encountered daily made it hard for him to feel at home.
Working on the Born Again American project has given him a sense of hope and belonging again.
