- 1). Turn on your camera. This brings the LCD screen to life, and you can view your current target using the screen.
- 2). Set the camera to the mode that allows you to take pictures outdoors. Unless you're taking the pictures at night or in a dark location, the "sunlight outdoors" setting should usually be sufficient for your pictures.
- 3). Aim your camera downward to avoid the glare of the sun. The sun's glare can make it difficult to accurately see the image on the LCD screen. Avoid having your shadow in the picture, or your LCD screen may accentuate the shadow and make your picture look dark.
- 4). Examine the LCD screen to determine if your picture has the correct focal point. The LCD screen may look a little dim in the sunlight, so you may need to cup one hand over the top of the screen to shield it from the sun to see the image clearly.
- 5). Hold down the picture-snapping button until you hear a click or you receive notification that the camera took the picture. Bring the LCD screen close to your face so you can examine it. Retake the picture if you feel that the picture doesn't meet your standards.
