- The SHO featured the most powerful engine of the Taurus line of vehicles. This 3.0 L V-6 motor produces 220 horsepower and 222 lb.-feet of torque. Keeping in line with the performance-oriented trim on this vehicle, the Taurus SHO is only offered with a five-speed manual gearbox.
- The SHO adds special front and rear fascia and side molding, yet retains the same dimensions as the L, GL and LX models. - The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's frontal impact crash test earned this vehicle a four-star safety rating. A five-star rating is the highest given by the NHTSA.
