- 1). Insert the shower drain piece into the drain pipe below, dry-fitting the two to ensure proper fit, and remove the drain piece. Use your fingers to move the drain pipe to the side slightly and insert the nut, washer and rubber gasket that come with the drain piece kit over the drain pipe.
- 2). Release the drain pipe slowly, allowing it to return to its original position. Apply PVC primer and cement to the inside of the drain pipe and the outside of the bottom of the drain piece using the brushes on the primer and cement bottle lids.
- 3). Insert the drain piece back into the drain pipe, pushing it as far down as possible. Tap the drain piece with a rubber mallet until the drain piece sits flush with the shower floor.
- 4). Place the drain cover over the drain piece's opening, lining up the screw holes in the cover with the screw holes in the drain piece. Thread the screws into the drain cover and drain piece, tightening them with a screwdriver until you feel resistance.
