Park Hotel Weggis

Park Hotel Weggis in a Nutshell:

The Park Hotel Weggis is a hotel where guests prefer to stay rather than stray. The views of the Swiss Alps and Lake Lucerne, visible from your room’s balcony and from the hotel’s private beachfront, may put you in a hypnotic trance.

When you have an on-site spa, outdoor pool, newly built suites with rain showers, flat-screen TVs and DVD players (the hotel has an extensive selection of movie rentals), and gourmet dining and award-winning wine selections, why leave?

Expect an attentive staff and personalized service from Park Hotel Weggis, a Relais & Châteaux member.

Guest Rooms at Park Hotel Weggis:

Originally opened in 1875 as the Hotel Bellevue, Park Hotel Weggis has kept its Art Nouveau façade while undergoing interior renovations that give it a hip and modern look. Trendy touches include lighting designed by Philippe Starck and Italian-made furniture that is simple, functional, and colorful (bright reds, golds and blues).

The Schlössli/Castle wing and main building have 43 guest rooms including a romantic Rachmaninoff Suite with free-standing whirlpool tub in the bedroom, wine cooler unit, private elevator access, and balcony. Park Hotel Weggis's newest building holds 10 amenity-rich Adara suites.

Dining at Park Hotel Weggis:

For an indulgent gourmet dinner served on Versace tableware, Restaurant Annex’s Mediterranean-Asian cuisine offers fare such as tea-smoked duckling breast on Asiatic vegetable salad with crunchy cannelloni. A must-try wine: Louise Bovard’s Dezaley Medinette Grand from the French-speaking part of Switzerland.

Head outdoors to the Beach Bar and Lounge on the shores of Lake Lucerne to watch the sunset. (Sunsets are the reason why this area is called the Mediterranean of Switzerland.) For a romantic dinner, request a private table with candles and food from Restaurant Annex.

Spa at Park Hotel Weggis:

Spend an afternoon in one of six Asian-inspired, 750-square-foot spa cottages. Each includes a blossom-bath (similar to a whirlpool with fresh flower petals scenting the water) or a round Kneipp bath, sauna or steam room, shower, waterbed for a nap, and surround sound CD/DVD players. Massages can take place on Park Weggis’ private beach. The spa’s outdoor, heated pool, made out of black stone, changes colors every few minutes and overlooks — you guessed it — the lake and mountains. The spa also has Switzerland’s only Tibetan Room (blessed by a Tibetan monk) for traditional Tibetan massages.

Weddings at Park Hotel Weggis:

Park Hotel Weggis does not have set wedding packages, but does offer couples romantic ceremony locations on the beach or in the Japanese garden (one of the biggest in Switzerland). For a larger wedding, the Aquarius Hall holds up to 250 people and has surround-sound music and a built-in LED lighting system that produces unique lighting effects.

Couples can also host a small dinner party (up to 30 people) in Park Hotel Weggis’ Vinothek – a restored vaulted wine cellar with 2,600 labels and more than 60,000 bottles of wine. Guests can rent the entire hotel and its private beach on Lake Lucerne.

Romance Package at Park Hotel Weggis:

The Parc & Romance package offers couples two nights' accommodations, breakfast, a bottle of Champagne upon arrival, dinner at Restaurant Sparks, a five-course dinner at the gourmet Restaurant Annex, a 60-minute couples spa treatment, time in one of the spa cottages, and late check-out at 2 p.m.

Nearby the Park Hotel Weggis:

Snow-capped Mount Rigi at 6,000 feet is accessible by cable car from the village of Weggis, which is small and quaint with a few stores and restaurants. A new, adjacent sister property, Post Hotel Weggis has 45 rooms designed to appeal to a young crowd. Park Hotel Weggis can arrange day or night boat cruises on Lake Lucerne that go to the city of Lucerne, which is about 45 minutes by boat or 20 minutes by car. Bike and kayak rentals are also available through the hotel.

Is the Park Hotel Weggis Right for You?:

For those looking for a truly romantic getaway in a small town that offers much to do outside in summer (swimming or boating on the lake, hiking in nearby mountains), Park Hotel Weggis is for you. Park Hotel Weggis’ accommodations are romantic and fun with ultra comfortable beds, sexy showers or whirlpools, flat-screen TVs and DVD players that make staying inside all day a treat. What could be improved here? The price. While the Swiss Franc is better against the U.S. dollar than the Euro, it is still expensive. Also, nightbirds will be happier soaring elsewhere.
