Plug the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the back of the DSL modem, then plug the other end into an Ethernet port on your computer. - 5). Turn on your computer and log into Windows XP.
- 6). Open a web browser and visit a website. If the page loads, your DSL connection is set up and you can skip the rest of the steps.
- 7). Open the "Start" menu and click on "Control Panel." Control Panel may be listed under the "Settings" category on some computers.
- 8). Click "Network and Internet Connections," then click the "Network Connections" icon.
- 9). Right-click on "Local Area Connection." Select "Properties" from the menu that pops up.

Click the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" item in the list displayed in the box, then click the "Properties" button below the box. - 11
Click on "Obtain an IP address automatically," then click "OK."
