Insure your Luxury Holiday Villa in Cannes

After having gathered a lot of information on villas in France you make your decision and purchase luxury holiday villas in France. You can make this luxury villa a holiday home or you can choose to rent it. Either way, you have to insure your property. It should not be considered an after thought only when things go wrong. You have to make this decision along with your purchase. Here are a few factors to consider while insuring your luxury villa:

French or UK insurer

When you consider insuring your luxury villa, you have to decide if you want to use a French insurer or a UK based one. When you draw up insurance contracts from a French insurance agent, he will require confirmation that you can pay off your loan. If you are new to France, it is best you get someone to read the small print on your contract. This way, you can understand the limitations and the extent of the policy cover. UK policies are not as limited as French ones, so it is better to choose a UK policy which is specifically for French holiday homes and is explained in English.

Building insurance

If you opt for building insurance, it will cover the structure of your luxury holiday villas in France. This includes the cost of rebuilding and repairing, professional fees and removal of debris. It also includes damage and loss caused by earthquakes, floods, storms, pipe bursts and fire. Apart from this, fittings and fixtures in the building like bathrooms and kitchens suits should be covered.

Cost of insurance

While insuring your luxury holiday home, you have to understand that the market value does not include the rebuilding value. The entire cost of reconstructing your home is the rebuild value. This should include swimming pools, domestic gas and oil pipes, out buildings, tennis courts, barns, terraces, fences, gates, walls and patios.

Insurance contents

Typically, people do not keep expensive items in their holiday villas, especially when not occupied for long durations. If however, you want to add such items to your luxury holiday villas in France, be sure to include them in the All-Risks category in your insurance policy. You will first have to calculate how much it would cost to replace them. As an additional aspect, include all the contents you will take if you relocate. Contents such as furniture, television should be included in this.
