The Pros and Cons of Owning a Freshwater Fish Aquarium

There are pros and cons to just about everything, some are quite significant while others are really not a problem.
Owning a freshwater fish aquarium is a fantastic hobby or business and though somebody may point out a few cons these are far outweighed by the pros.
An enthusiast is of course bound to be biased in how he speaks of his or her own hobby but the more enthusiasts you speak to or read about, the more realistic the picture you get of just what a particular hobby entails.
Owning your own freshwater fish aquarium has got to be one of the most rewarding, interesting and relaxing hobbies on this planet.
You can get involved each and every day and as your aquarium grows, and as you learn more and more you gain valuable ability and insight to make it a stunning and interesting visual feast for any passer by.
This hobby is always on going.
You never set up an aquarium and then that's it, job done.
On the contrary, it evolves as you learn more and so your set up will change as you add to it, take away from it and create changes within it.
Many folk testify to feeling so much more relaxed and calm having watched an aquarium for any length of time and this is probably the reason we see them in schools, hospitals and elderly folks' homes.
Cons? Ok, I admit that I am biased but I think if anyone had to give a less favourable aspect to this hobby it would probably be maintenance.
Now before you walk off and check something else out, let me clarify this.
Maintenance is what you make it.
If you have started out with your freshwater fish aquarium in the correct manner doing research before anything else then you will not have fallen at the first apparent hurdle.
Having researched the hobby before hand you will know exactly what to do and how to do it.
Maintenance therefore, and for most enthusiasts, is merely an extension of the hobby itself.
It's part of the fun, so it's not actually work, it is a by product if you like, of the hobby.
You knew an enthusiast with a freshwater fish aquarium would answer something like that didn't you.
But it is true though.
Furthermore, if a hobby seems like too much hard work to anyone then it begs the question, is it a hobby at all? If you look for yourself, you'll certainly find that a true enthusiast who has researched the hobby or business of fish aquaria will always have enthusiasm and genuine dedication for one of the best hobbies around - owning a freshwater fish aquarium.
