- 1). Find the trailer's VIN. Look for it at the trailer arm, near the ball hitch. Alternate places to find the 17-digit alpha-numeric code include the underside of the rear trailer or to the side of the license plate attachment panel.
- 2). Go to your nearest DMV or other agency that governs vehicle registration in your state. Request a VIN check form from the desk clerk and fill it out. Present the form with the fee and collect the title and information attached to the trailer.
- 3). Log onto the Internet and enter "VIN trailer check" into any major search engine. Select one of the VIN tracking sites. Enter your information in the appropriate fields.
- 4). Print out the results of the VIN track on the trailer.
