Make an odor neutralizer by mixing 1 cup white vinegar and 1 cup water in a spray bottle. Shake the solution to mix.

Remove the furnace filter from the furnace. Spray the vinegar spray on your filter, then put the filter back in place. The vinegar neutralizes odors on your filter and will do the same throughout your house as it wafts out into the air in your home.

Reapply vinegar spray to your filter every few hours for one day.

Pour water into another spray bottle until almost filled. Add 10 drops cinnamon essential oil, then spray the cinnamon spray on your furnace filter once or twice each day. Cinnamon is a natural odor absorber that also adds a pleasant scent to the air.
