How to Extend My Thai Passport

    • 1). Collect all required documentation and an application fee for a 32-page passport. You also can pay extra for a 64-page passport. If applicable, gather supporting documentation, including name change documents, marriage certificates, proof of homeownership, divorce registration or certificates of adoption, in the case of a minor.

    • 2). Go to the main passport office in Bangkok during business hours. The Chang Wattana Road office hours are 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Two temporary branch offices also provide passport services: The Bang Na office on the ninth floor of the Central City Shopping Center on Bang-Na-Trad Road, which is open 8 am to 3:30 pm. and the Pinklao office on the eighth floor of the Central Department Store on Borommarajachonnani Road, which is open 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Since these are temporary offices, call ahead before visiting.

    • 3). Contact the consular office at a Royal Thai Embassy, if you are currently in the United States and want to extend your passport. Consular services are handled through diplomatic offices in Washington, D.C., New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Fees vary, depending on the status of your passport.

    • 4). Provide minors under 20 years old with a birth certificate or identity card, parents' marriage registration and certificate, parents' identity cards and consent of parents or legal guardian(s).

Both parents or legal guardians of minors under 15 years years old must apply in person at passport office. If only one parent is available, a signed letter of consent by the other parent must be presented to the office. Minors older than 15 years old can apply alone for a passport with a letter of consent that is signed by both parents or legal guardian(s).
