Cajamarca, Peru, is an ancient city, rich in history and with a lot of modern-day charm to keep you interested. The city was the site of the final conquest of the Inca by the Spanish in the 1500s, and you can still visit some of the ruins from that era. Old churches and historic sites are just a few of the interesting aspects to this city, and it has hotels of many kinds available to make your stay pleasurable. - The Laguna Seca Hotel and Spa are inside an old hacienda that is filled with charm and modern luxuries. The hotel offers spa treatments with water from the local hot springs. You may have the hot spring water in your own hotel room, or in the spa itself. The restaurant offers traditional Peruvian cuisine along with international fare, and has an extensive wine list. Its rooms are large, and you may have one, two or three beds depending on your needs. All rooms have private showers--with or without hot spring water--television and room service. You may work with the horses at the stables, and take a two- to three-hour ride on horseback through the mountains. You can get in touch with nature on the hotel's farm, and see where they grow the vegetables that they serve in the restaurant, or help milk the cows. Playgrounds are also available for children. Tours of the city and the area are also available through the hotel.
