- Eat raw natural foods like fruits and vegetables. Avoid any food with preservatives and additives. Substitute the fruit juice or fruit flavored foods with the fruit itself. This lowers the chance of contamination of any kind, and ensures your body receives the entire amount of nutrient available from that food. Crunchy, fibrous natural foods like cabbage, celery and carrots are good for liver cleansing. This is because fibers help removal of liver-dumped toxins from the body. In their absence, these toxins are brought back to the liver, increasing its workload. Whole grains like flaxseeds and isabgol, protein sources like fish, nuts and beans and fats like omega-3 fish oils and certain healthy omega-6 oils like those from grapeseeds and olives are necessary to aid the liver's functions. Make sure to include these in your liver cleansing regimen. A basic liver cleansing diet for as short as three days can give your liver a new burst of energy.
- One of the most important ingredients of the liver cleanse diet should be the cranberry juice mix. Boil a mixture of eight ounces of natural juice of cranberry and 56 ounces of water. In this boiled mixture, soak a soft cloth full of half a teaspoon cinnamon, one fourth teaspoon of nutmeg and ginger, such that these seep through the cloth into the mixture for 15 minutes. When this mixture cools, add to it a quarter cup of fresh lime juice, three quarter s of a cup of orange juice and natural sweetener. On the first day of the diet, have a glass of this juice mixture with a couple of tablespoons of flaxseeds for breakfast. Follow this up with 8 oz. of water after an hour. Alternate the juice and water schedule for the next 12 hours, minus the flaxseeds. For the last meal of juice for the day, have another 2 tbsp. of flaxseeds with the mixture.
- For both day two and day three of the liver cleanse diet, start off your day with a couple of eggs with vegetables scrambled in it, an orange and water with fresh lime juice. For a mid-morning snack, you can have a cup of plain yogurt with ground flaxseeds and fresh berries. Lunch should consist of a fresh salad of lettuce, cabbage, beets and artichokes along with six ounces of lean protein from chicken or turkey, while the mid-afternoon snack could be an apple baked with nutmeg and cinnamon. Round off your day with dinner of a lot of cauliflower, broccoli and another six ounces of lean protein from turkey or chicken.
- Stay away from fried foods and try to have all foods boiled, grilled or baked. Do not take coffee or tea or carbonated beverages. Stay away from alcohol and smoking and try to have organic foods as much as possible in order to cleanse your liver.
