- Air travel to Jamaica requires a valid US passport. In addition, Jamaican authorities request proof of a return ticket and sufficient funds for your visit.
- Individuals traveling on a closed-loop cruise, or rather a cruise that departs and returns from the same US port, are exempt from the passport requirement. These individuals may show proof of US citizenship in the from of an original or certified copy of a birth certificate, a certificate of naturalization, a passport card or an enhanced driver's license (EDL), which must be presented along with a government-issued photo ID.

- To obtain a passport, you will need primary evidence of US citizenship in the form of a previous passport or a certified birth certificate, your Social Security number, the DS-11: Application for a U.S. Passport form, all applicable fees and two passport-sized photos. Applications can be made in person at a Passport Acceptance Facility or renewed by mail.
- The passport application can be expedited for additional fees. If traveling within 2 weeks, then a visit to a Regional Passport Agency is required for processing.
