- 1). If you own a small business and use a portion of your house or apartment you can write-off part square footage that is actually used for the small business.
- 2). You can write-off any business calls that are made on your cell phone. If you have a cell phone that is used for the business, it is wise to make sure that no personal calls are made on that phone. It's much easier to look at the bill and deduct the entire bill instead of digging through the different calls trying to remember which ones are personal and which call were used for business. It looks better when you have seperate bill for business when you are being audited.
- 3). Any travel expenses that are incurred for your small business can also be deducted. As as business owner you need to ensure that they are business trips and not personal/business trips; as this tends to make things messy at the end of the year.
- 4). If you use a computer that is solely used for the purpose of the business, then you can write that expense off too. Make sure you read the laws regarding this carefully You do not want this to come back and hunt you down the road.
