Taking Your PMP Test Properly

Copyright (c) 2011 John Reiling

In every exam, we normally analyze the questions carefully for a long time before choosing the correct answers. But in the case of the PMP Certification Exam, you are only given less than a minute to answer 1 question correctly. In this 200 multiple-choice question exam, only a limit of 4 hours is allotted to you. This makes the exam difficult to pass. And what is so stressful is to know that every unanswered question deducts your total score for the test, even though it is not a punishment for not answering the question.

To prevent these problems, here are the following tips you could take in:

Read the choices given. Practice reading the test questions in a fast pace but with understanding. And then analyze the question. Look for the root problem of the question; and lastly, understand the problem. Seek for solution and choose the best answers.

To answer the questions easily, you should quickly look up to your stocked knowledge. Remember everything taught to you and as you analyze the questions, apply those lessons. To make it easier for you to think what you need to remember, the lessons most commonly taken during the test are the diagrams, titles and other important notes. You are required to memorize them especially the formulas. I suggest that you write down notes so that you could easily restore those important facts into your minds.

There are times that we forget some important points during the test because of nervousness or have topics that you are not familiar with. So we normally guess the right answer. Even though it is not applicable to all the questions, it still can help in increasing the chances to get the right answer. Another thing you need to learn is that most PMP questions are straight to the point so you could choose answers which you think fits best to the question. On the other hand, if you're going to encounter logical questions, better decide carefully between those choices. Base your answers with the key words given.

For the fact that we are given less time to answer all of the questions, it would be best if you answer the easiest questions before the difficult ones. If you think you that the problem is hard, skip it first and proceed to the next number. After answering all of the questions, that's the time you go back to those previous questions you've skipped.

Lastly, just relax and stay calm. I understand that taking this PMP examination has made you feel very exhausted. But don't worry; if you stay calm, you could work your mind out properly. Stretch your body once in a while and smile. This makes you feel confident that you'll pass this examination.

Just in case that you are done with answering the questions and yet your time is not yet over, you could freely look at your paper again and check if you answered them all correctly and see if there are questions that you have left unanswered.
