- 1). Wash horizontal concrete surfaces with a degreasing cleanser, using a coarse brush. Rinse the concrete, using a water hose or a mop, and wait two to four hours for the surface to dry.
- 2). Don acid-resistant safety gear.
- 3). Promote paint adhesion by etching the concrete surface, using a muriatic acid etching kit. Consult the specific application instructions, included within the kit you purchased, as muriatic etching kits vary widely in function and style.
- 4). Wait between two to four hours for the concrete surface to dry.
- 5). Combine the epoxy catalyst with the resin in a 5-gallon bucket. Stir for five minutes, using a wooden stir stick.
- 6). Apply the epoxy paint to the etched horizontal concrete, using a roller stocked with a shed-resistant cover and equipped with an extension pole. Wait six hours before walking onto the concrete.
