- Alaska is known for Salmon, but guides can take you to many types of fish.salmon image by Warren Rosenberg from Fotolia.com
Finding a fishing guide in Alaska is hugely dependent on where you plan to fish. Alaska is such an expansive state, you must decide on your area before you can start picking fishing guides. It is the only state in the United States where you cannot get to the state capital by driving; you must take a boat or fly unless you come in from Canada. Roads do not go everywhere, so depending on where you will be staying will decide what fishing guide you should work with. - Most fish here for king salmon and halibut but you can also look for silver salmon if you travel down to Seward. AFISHUNT Charters will provide guides for the Cook Inlet and for Seward. Northwoods Lodge will do fishing charters on a boat as well as offering fly-fishing services, catching everything from trout to Salmon. Talaheim Lodge provides helicopter fly out fishing in very remote regions of Alaska.
