I get a lot of calls and e-mails from prospective clients, and not surprisingly, they have lots of different reasons for wanting a ghostwriter for their business blog.
For some, it's a matter of time; they would like to write in their company's blog every week, but just can't find the available hours.
To others, it's a matter of convenience, consistency, or even costs - most professionals write slowly, and so it ends up being cheaper to just farm the work out to someone else then it would be to do the writing themselves.
But as happy as I am to get new business, I sometimes think that these folks are missing the point...
or at least that they aren't expressing it that clearly.
That's because the very best reason to hire a blog ghostwriter comes down to one thing: results.
A professional web copywriter who knows his or her way around a blog and can pen you paragraphs that gather links and attention will help you get more business.
Everything else - including the search engine positioning, the consistent online marketing edge, increased traffic to your site, and so on - is secondary.
What really matters is getting your message right, and putting it in a way that draws people to read.
Without that profit motive in mind, it's easy for your blog to become just another "thing to try.
" That's dangerous, because it leads people to become lazy, sloppy, or cheap.
When your business blog is just a place to put some sort of content, then it makes sense to hire a copywriter who speaks English as a third language, or just take some existing material from your latest brochure and post it online.
When you're serious about making sales and adding customers, however, the whole exercise takes on a new meaning - you make a good investment of time and money to make things happen.
As I like to remind people every so often, you really don't have to spend a lot of time or money to get blog marketing results.
But, as the old saying goes, if you put garbage in, then you're going to get garbage out.
So treat your business blog like something that you plan on making money off of, rather something you're going to fling on the web and hope that someone happens across.
Saving time, money, and aggravation are all great reasons to hire a professional blog ghostwriter...
but only if you plan on getting marketing results in the long run.
