- CLEET provides training and certification programs for individuals interested in careers in the following law enforcement capacities: security guards, private investigators, drug and bomb detection dog handlers, concealed weapons instructors and polygraph examiners.
- CLEET courses can be taken at colleges, technical centers and private training facilities throughout the state. Continuing education coursework can be taken at technical centers online through CLEET's distance learning program.
- The following legislation concerning CLEET was enacted in 2010:
An assistant district attorney who has been trained by a CLEET certified firearms instructor is allowed to carry a concealed weapon at the discretion of the district attorney
Any reserve deputy who has not completed reserve academy training must be accompanied by a CLEET certified deputy sheriff at all times while on duty.
Pursuant to the Private Security Guard and Private Investigator Act a revolving fund was established to support educational and training programs.
CLEET was authorized to create law enforcement youth camps to be held at the CLEET training facility.
