- 1). Determine what type of bond you have. The type of bond and issuing company affect how to conduct your research. Also a physical bond may be harder to research than a bond held in your brokerage account.
- 2). Look up the phone number online and call investor relations for the company that issued the bond. Even if this person cannot tell you historical price information, they can likely point you in the right direction. Alternatively, you can call your brokerage firm and inquire whether they have records of this transaction. Most brokerages with online trading have resources for locating past prices.
- 3). Use federal government websites if you are researching a federal bond. The federalreserve.gov website has historical price records for all instruments issued by the Federal Reserve.
