How to Install an Antifreeze Bypass on an RV Pump

    • 1). Turn water pump switch to the off position.

    • 2). Locate the water pump. The pump is typically located in a storage cabinet, under the dinette, or behind a maintenance access panel.

    • 3). Remove the fresh water supply hose from the inlet side of the pump by unscrewing the fitting using your fingers. The fitting is knurled and should be easily unscrewed. If the fitting is not knurled, use the adjustable wrench to loosen the fitting.

    • 4). Wrap the water pump inlet nipple with pipe tape. Screw on the gray female-to-female adapter provided in the kit onto the water pump nipple using the adjustable wrench. Do not overtighten.

    • 5). Wrap the brass bypass valve nipples with pipe tape. Orient the bypass valve so that the valve handle is facing up and the center fitting facing inward. Screw the left side of the valve nipple into the gray female fitting installed in Step 4. Do not overtighten.

    • 6). Attach the fresh water supply hose to the right valve nipple. Do not overtighten. Attach the siphon hose from the kit onto the remaining center nipple. Turn the valve handle so it is inline with the valve body.

    • 7). Switch on the water pump and check the bypass valve fittings for leaks.
