- A spacesuit is a 14-layered garment made up of raw materials, including fiberglass, metal, synthetic polymers, nylon, spandex, rubber and aluminum.
- The spacesuit backpack is made up of carbon-dioxide removal filters, electrical power, oxygen supply, communication equipment and a ventilating fan.
- The upper torso of the spacesuit is made of metal and fiberglass. The arms, helmet, lower torso and life support system display all connect through the upper torso part of the spacesuit.
- The lower torso portion of the spacesuit, including the pants, boots and waist, is made up of urethane-coated nylon and polyester fabric. It is also covered in five layers of aluminized Mylar and a surface layer made up of Nomex, Teflon and Kevlar.
- The plastic helmet is made up of a neck ring, ventilation pad, purge valve, drinking straw, sun shielding visor, camera, small head lamp and a device known as a Snoopy Cap, which allows communication through a headphone and microphone.
- A ventilation garment is worn under the outer part of the spacesuit. The garment is made from spandex and includes over 300 feet of plastic cooling tubes that allow fluids to flow through it in order to maintain a proper temperature.
