- 1). Decide how you want to make a request for your driving record. In Texas, you can submit a request for a driving record through postal mail or over the Internet. Both methods can be used for commercial and non-commercial driver license holders.
- 2). Gather up your personal and financial information, such as Social Security number, driver license number, audit number that is listed on your Texas driver license and credit card number. All information must be submitted to the Texas Department of Public Safety and must be accurate.
- 3). Visit the Texas Department of Public Safety's website at txdps.state.tx.us to access the Driver License Division. Enter your personal information through the department's website or download a DR-1 form to fill out and send postal mail to the following address:

There are six types of driving records that can be ordered from the state of Texas. The state charges a fee for each type of driving record. You can order a maximum of five records at any one time. - 4). Wait for your driving record. Records are mailed within 14 days to the address that was provided to the department. Requests received over the weekend are not processed until the next business day.
