Mr. Sarda is looked upon as a Calcutta based businessman and is the owner of INR 2500 Crore Sarda Group of Industries. This group of industry primarily focusses upon the information technology industries and the jute sector. Axsys Technologies, Alwar Jute Mill and Agarpara Jute Mill are some of the industries owned by the Sarda Group. Also, in a bid to do good for the society, he went ahead with the initiative of setting up of a trust known as the Chandakala Devi Trust.

Fountainhead of lofty notions

Nowadays, Mr. Sarda is looked upon as a source of inspiration for many and has rightly gained the status as a fountainhead of knowledge and lofty ideas. According to him, €Knowledge is not power, rather it is potential power€. Also, he further made it clear that, Knowledge is not about as what to do next; rather it is about holding an idea as what is the right of doing it. The recent murder of the CEO of the Northbrook Jute Mill had sent shock across the industry.

Some of the reasons as pointed out by Ghanshyam Sarda behind the occurrence of a similar incident were; dwindling orders for jute bags, lack of governmental control and constant interference by all concerned outsiders. He further stated that the agitation at Northbrook acted similar to a detonator. The sentiments shared by Mr. Sarda were identical to IJMA. According to this industrial tycoon, a similar incident is sure to hold serious implications on the future of the industrial sector in West Bengal. The situation worsens when the management not only has to face serious competition from the rivalry between unions, but also from a particular section interested in capturing power.

The man behind the establishment of the Ghanshyam Sarda Kolkata unit maintains his influence on the entertainment industry, as well. The same can be understood from the fact that he arranged a party at his residence. At the party, Gargi RoyChowdhury and Rachana Banerjee were the main guests who were present. The discussion primarily was held around the present scenario of the Tollywood industry. At the party, guests were offered with the best collection of a mix of continental and Indian delicacies. The wedding of Mr. Sarda's daughter-Prerna was attended by top celebrities including; Anil Ambani, Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aamir Khan.

MoU signed

The recent visit of Miss. Mamata Banerjee was indeed a fruitful one as MoU was signed in several target areas including; home furnishing, food processing, entertainment and IT. The Sarda Group signed MoU with the leading IT firms including; Compass Energy Pvt Ltd., Singapore and Axsys Technologies Ltd. As a result of the combine, employment for 200 people is most likely to get generated. Also, in the coming two years, an additional number of 500-600 people are expected to benefit from work opportunities.
