Java certification is referred to as middleware certification because the Java programming language connects software components and their applications. Oracle Certified Associate, Java SE 5/SE 6

• The Oracle Certified Associate is an entry-level certification for software project management or application development. This certification validates basic knowledge of the Java programming language, Java Platforms, Object-Oriented Concepts and Unified Modeling Language. Prospective candidates for this exam include students studying to become Java programmers, project managers working with Java technology in the software development industry and entry-level Java programmers. Oracle Certified Professional Java Programmer

• The Oracle Certified Professional Java Programmer certification is for experienced Java programmers. This exam is also the prerequisite for advanced Java certification such as Oracle Certified Master. Passing this certification exams validates that a programmer understands the basic structure and syntax of Java and can create Java applications that run on desktop systems using J2SE 5.0. The exam can be taken for Java Standard Edition 5 or 6. This exam is 180 minutes long and has 60 questions. The passing score is 58.33 percent.
  
  

Oracle Certified Master, Java SE 6 Developer

• Oracle Certified Master, Java SE 6 Developer is a certification for developers interested in demonstrating advanced proficiency in the Java using the Java SE 6. Prospective candidates must complete an essay and a programming project. The essay is 120 minutes long and has four questions. On the programming project, you must score 320 points out of a possible 400. Test-takers have 12 months from the time of purchase to complete the programming project. The prerequisite for this exam is the Oracle Certified Professional certification.
