Travel & Places Distances & Travel Times

Family Getaway Ideas

One thing I have learned since having my kids is that when I travel we don't always have to go far to find great things to do especially on a tight budget.
I like trips that we can get to by car since it makes handling luggage, toys and diapers that much easier.
I love my kids but sometimes airports are just so stressful when dealing with all of them and car trips are just easier for me.
Over the years my hubby ad I have found that we can get great deals by booking hotels and even tickets to amusement parks online.
One of the best places I have been to with my kids the Philadelphia Zoo.
It is only about an hour and a half from our home and the last time we went we made a weekend of it, we stayed at a nearby hotel with indoor swimming, great dining and went to the zoo Saturday and Sunday.
It was a great time and I enjoyed myself tremendously.
The kids loved being able to run around and seeing the zoo two days in a row meant we didn't have to rush through it to see everything.
Another weekend trip we drove to Virgina and went to Busch Gardens.
Now the driving took about six hours but we left right after dinner so we checked into the hotel room after midnight, meaning the kids slept for practically the whole ride! Yay daddy! We got the hotel room so cheap online it was less than $22 a night and we stayed right outside of the park! We went to the park Friday, Saturday and Sunday and got a great deal on tickets online too! It was great, we had a ball, it was inexpensive and the kids loved it! The older I get I realize that a week or two on vacation is just too hard with three kids, these weekend trips are less expensive and we have a blast and more importantly we enjoy each other! You don't have to spend a fortune to have fun and for those of you who have a hard time getting time off of work these smaller trips can work for you too!
