When you are raising money, especially if you are trying to reach a specific goal, you want to be able to visualize how much money you have raised and how much you still need to attain your goal.
Having a fundraising chart gives you motivation to reach your goal and helps you to see your success.
By having a chart to show potential donors how much you have earned they will be more inclined to donate as well.
The most common fundraising chart is the thermometer chart.
You can create it by drawing a large thermometer on a big piece of poster board.
The thermometer needs to be big enough to show how much money you plan to raise and should go from $0 to the maximum amount you are trying to raise.
Write the name of your charity or program at the top of the poster board in big black letters.
Write the number of the fundraising goal at the top of the thermometer.
Use a black marker to draw black lines on the thermometer that depicts the monetary increments in of $5, $10, $50, $100, or $500.
As you raise money, fill in the money increments with either red marker or pieces of red construction paper.
Continue to color it in until you reach the top of the thermometer and have reached your goal.
Make sure you hang up your fundraising chart in a place where everyone can see it.
It will help you to constantly see how much money you've raised so far and it will push you to work harder to reach your goal.
The visual reminder will help you stay focused on your goal.
