- 1). Access the Google Custom Search website in your web browser.
- 2). Click "Create a Custom Search Engine" button.
- 3). Enter a name for your search engine in the "Search engine name" field. For example, enter "My Website Search Engine." Select an appropriate language in the "Search engine language" menu. Select the "Only sites I select" option under the "What do you want to search?" heading. Enter your website URL in the "Sites to search" field. Select "Standard edition - Free, ads are required on results pages" under the "Select an edition" heading. Click the checkbox next to "I have read and agree to the Terms of Service." Click the "Next" button.
- 4). Try some test searches in the Preview section of the next page. Click the Finish button.
- 5). Click the "Control panel" link on the next page.
- 6). Click the "Get code" link on the next page.
- 7). Copy the HTML code from the "Control panel - Get code" page into the HTML code of web pages for your website. The code automatically displays a Google search box, which is specific to your website, on your web pages.
