- 1). Flip the vacuum over and unplug it from the electrical outlet. Orecks have replacement belts supplied on the underside, so remove the new belt. Turn the Oreck back over so it is right side up again. Orecks have been designed with the belt on the side of the power head. Use your screwdriver to remove the hold-down screw. Then slide the door forward; you may have to pry it a bit with the screwdriver to loosen it.
- 2). Grasp the belt and remove it from the brush and drive shaft. Take the new belt, slip it around the drive shaft, and pull the other end over the brush. This will require a little force to stretch the belt. With the new belt on, move the brush back and forth to make sure it is rotating smoothly.
- 3). Push the door back on by sliding it over the grooves until you hear it snap in place. Ensure the hold-down screw is lined up correctly, and tighten the screw. Plug the vacuum into the electrical outlet and turn the vacuum on to make sure it is sounds as good as new.
