- 1). Turn off all power supplied to the well water pump. Before beginning any maintenance or repair work on an electrically controlled pump all power should be disconnected.
- 2). Locate the pressure switch cover, usually a black plastic cube-shape box on the side of the pump body. Loosen the bolt on the top of the cover with a set of pliers and remove both the bolt and the cover.
- 3). Turn the bolt on the larger of the two posts within the pressure switch clockwise to raise the differential pressure between the on and off settings of the pump. Make one complete clockwise turn to raise the pressure 2 1/2 psi, turn counterclockwise to reduce the pressure.
- 4). Locate the smaller post next to the large differential pressure switch post. Turn the post clockwise to raise only the pressure at which the water pump turns off; one complete turn raises the pressure by 2 1/2 psi.
- 5). Replace the cover on the pressure switches. Insert the bolt and tighten with pliers to protect the pressure switches from corrosion. Reconnect power to the well water pump.
