Renal Transplant Recipient With Delayed Graft Function

Renal Transplant Recipient With Delayed Graft Function
A 50-year-old Caucasian male with end-stage renal disease of unclear etiology, associated with hypertension, was admitted 10/12/2000 for cadaver kidney transplantation. The patient had been on hemodialysis for 3 years. The donor was a 50-year-old patient who had died of an intracerebral bleed. The cold ischemia time was 25 hours and the patient had a 2:6 antigen match with the donor. Because the recipient was at risk for delayed graft function (DGF), he received 1 preoperative dose of daclizumab 2 mg/kg. In addition, the patient was treated with mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) 1000 mg preoperatively and then twice daily, and solumedrol 500 mg. The transplant surgery was uneventful, but the patient was anuric postoperatively.
