Unsaturated Fat

Definition: Unsaturated fat is a fat that is liquid at room temperature. Unsaturated fats can help to lower blood cholesterol when used to replace saturated fats. Unsaturated fats include polyunsaturated fats and monounsaturated fats. Examples of these include most nuts, olive oil, olives, avocados and fatty fish, such as salmon.
Examples: To improve her diet, April began replacing butter with olive oil, an unsaturated fat.
