- 1). Buy a container of car wax. You can find relatively cheap eight-ounce containers for around $10. If you want even more effectiveness on the mirrors in your home, set up a fan or leave your ceiling fan on to keep airflow going, which will prevent steam from building.
- 2). Before taking a shower in your bathroom, apply a quarter-sized portion of car wax onto your rag. Do the same for any mirror in your home that needs to be freed of steam collection.
- 3). Spread the wax onto the mirror, making sure to cover every part of it with a thin layer.
- 4). Let the wax dry. This should only take four or five minutes.
- 5). Buff the mirror with the rag again, using a dry part of it to cover the entire surface. Now, you can take your shower. The wax will collect drops of water on the mirror, but will be easy to see through as opposed to the thick steam and fog. Also, if your bathroom has a fan, turn this on to reduce the steam. Cool air will help prevent hot steam from gathering on the mirror.
