Back To School Injuries

Perhaps you haven't given much thought to autumn being just around the corner, but it is, and with it are all of the injuries that come with going back to school. What type of events could possible cause you're children injuries going back to school? Tom Brady was reported as having a major injury to his knee during training camp. He's a pro, and if a pro can get injured so to can your child. It doesn't matter how old your 'child' is, they run the likelihood of getting hurt when they return to the playing field.
It doesn't matter what the sport, what matters is how long of time off they've had. I can't tell you how many times I've heard the new reporters say, 'early in training seasons we see lots of injuries', and that's from and about the pros. Is your child a pro? Probably not, even proteges will need to warm up and get used to whatever they were doing after a break. There are are a handful of keys so that you don't get hurt. And remember, if you do, depending on the injury, you can go to an urgent care instead of an emergency room, and save you time and money. I've talked to many doctors and they all agree, that it's cheaper and easier to go to a urgent care, like Boca Regional Urgent Care, than it is to go to an emergency room.
First thing, remember to warm up and warm up well. It's not how fast you do it, it's that you do it. I know there's argument as to when to warm up. But the current consensus is do a little of what you're doing, and then stretch, that way you don't tear you tendons and ligaments.
If you have to take time off from your favorite sport, make it brief, and only a couple of weeks, then get back to playing, otherwise you're starting over again. It's like going back to school for studies, most teachers will tell you that they spend the first two months, refreshing the students about what they learned the last year, then they can begin. Skip this process, and you'll be ahead of the pack.
Lastly, make sure that you enjoy the sports that you're doing. If you hate football, don't do it. It doesn't matter (I know you may think it does), but it really doesn't matter if that's what your parents want you to do, it matters what you want to do. This can be easier said than done, but you will soar if you're doing your passion and not someone else's.
Lastly, breaks are needed for your body to recover, they aren't a bad thing. Just remember, if you take too long of a break, you're going to need to start up sooner, in order to pick up that lost ground. Save yourself time and money, and start sooner, than later and avoid that injury. I once heard a famous biker when asked why he did so much better than everyone else, his answer was simple: I'm willing to do the work that no one else wants to do! It is that plain and it is that simple ~ and you'll prevent injuries in the long run!
