An eclectic blend of venues, Federation Square houses not only a distinguished Australian art gallery in the National Gallery of Victoria's Ian Potter Centre, but also a centre dedicated to Australian and international films and screen-based art.
The Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI), across four levels of the Deakin Building in Federation Square, houses two multi-format cinemas and the world's largest dedicated screen gallery.
Entry to the screen gallery is free.
State-of-the-art facility
ACMI is a state-of-the-art facility for the preservation, exhibition and promotion of Victorian, Australian and international screen content.
There are hands-on public activity, education and production zones, and many of these are available to the public without charge.
Cinema screnings and certain special exhibitions attract a fee.
Lounge and shop
The ACMI Lounge is the place to meet and enjoy a meal, snacks or cocktails in-between incursions into the world of the moving image.
The ACMI Shop carries a large range of screen-culture books, CDs, DVDs, games, toys, cards and a variety of gift items. See what may be ordered online through the ACMI website.
