- 1). Slide open the door on the bottom of your GE electric oven to access the power plug. Verify it's connected securely. For older ovens, slide the appliance out from the wall, and verify the power cord is connected securely.
- 2). Disconnect your oven from the electrical outlet for at least 30 seconds, and then reconnect it. This resets the electrical control.
- 3). Check that the oven controls are set to "Bake" or "Broil" if the oven does not heat but the burners heat. If you removed the knobs for cleaning, reinstall them properly and make sure they're in the correct position.
- 4). Check the oven door, and make sure the self-cleaning knob is in the "Unlocked" position.
- 5). Locate the electrical panel in your home. It's usually in the basement or electrical room. Open the electrical panel once you find it, and check the circuit breakers. If one of your circuit breakers is tripped, move it to the "OFF" position, and then move it back to the "ON" position to reset it.
